Rev. Dr. Denise Henderson

 

Rev. Dr. Denise Henderson, has previously served as interim Senior Pastor at New Calvary Baptist Church. Rev. Henderson served as an Associate Minister at Hartford Church where Rev. Dr. Charles G. Adams ordained her. She previously served as a deacon. She has served as the Director of the Transitional Outreach (Homeless) Ministry for 10 years and the co-leader of the Crusaders’ Sunday School Class at Hartford Church for the past 15 years.

Dr. Henderson is a former instructor/mentor for the Doctor of Ministry program at Ecumenical Theological Seminary (ETS). She currently serves as a faith-based consultant for the Detroit Family Caregiving Project.

She is a board-certified Leadership and Wellness Coach from the Center for Credentialing Education and Transformational Leaders International. She has an extensive background of success in Human Resources Management and leadership development, having served as an executive with large health care systems including the Henry Ford Health System and the Detroit Medical Center Children’s Hospital. She has a B. A. in Sociology from Wayne State University, a M. A. in Guidance and Counseling from the University of Detroit and a Doctor of Ministry Degree from Ecumenical  Theological Seminary.

Dr. Henderson has been the founder and chairperson of the Haygood Scholars Program for the past 11 years. She is an Executive Board member of the Council of Baptist Pastors of Detroit and Vicinity, Inc. where she serves as Chairperson for the Health and Human Services Committee. She serves on the Interfaith Health Equity Partnership Council.

Dr. Henderson is President for Metropolitan Detroit Area/American Baptist Women’s Ministries. She is a member of the Women’s Difference Makers Collaborative. She has also previously served on the Vista Maria Advisory and The Friendship House Boards. Rev. Henderson is the founder of Henderson’s Heavenly Ministries where she offers Christ-centered coaching.

Dr. Henderson is author of the books “We are Overcomers, a Weekly Devotional of Overcoming Life’s Challenges” and E-Book “Strength for the Journey.”

Foremost and most importantly, she is a child of God. Her guiding scripture is Proverbs 3:5
